Review: After years of community discussions and planning it was concluded that there is a need to start the construction of a new Masjid as the community is continuing to grow in the Evergreen neighborhood and the surrounding areas. Masha‘Allah, it showed the commitment from the community to take on this long development effort. Groundbreaking of the site took place in June of 2012.
Review: Can be dedicated to preparing the construction site for a multi-year development. Foundation of the building was poured and work on the steel structure started. Pouring of the foundation and erecting the steel structure were the two most critical milestones for the project. Masha‘Allah, it showed the commitment from the community to take on this long development effort.
Review: Two significant projects, steel structure and pouring of concrete, were completed. Work started on the next development phase of covering the exposed steel structure. Both these tasks were long, expensive, required significant planning and tested the patience of our community. Alhamdu’lillah, with The Almighty’s blessings and your continued support we persevered.
Review: We started the year with a shell and by the end of the year our Masjid had taken its final shape and looked complete. Masha‘Allah! Majority of the exterior work was completed which included metal work, roofing, stucco, tiles and paint. There was tremendous progress throughout the year. We are grateful to our community who continued their support towards the project.
Review: We made significant progress throughout the year, both on the outside as well as on the inside. This phase of construction required exceptional program management and coordination as there were multiple tasks running in parallel. Insides of the facility started to take shape with walls, ceiling, windows and doors in place. Alhamdu’lillah, with The Almighty’s blessings and tremendous support from the community we made significant step forward towards the goal.
Review: Turned out to be a tremendous year for project as we were able to complete create several critical tasks and secure a temporary permit of occupancy, Alhamdu’lillah! This allowed us to enjoy the blessed month of Ramadan in the new facility, along with performing daily Salah’s. With the additional capacity we were able to pray both Eid prayers at the new facility as well. We were also able to complete the initial phase of parking which added 50 new parking spots within the premises and improved traffic congestion on the nearly streets.
Review: With the Masjid portion complete and the community enjoying the updated facilities, the focus for the year was to ensure that we complete the tasks which improve the experience of the community at the Masjid. One of the Major tasks in regards to that was the parking lot. It was a major project with a tight timeline, we now have the final grading in place and the parking capacity of ~150 vehicles. Another important task was to get the kitchenette in the basement complete along with the sheet rock work so that the community can enjoy the facility during Ramadan. HVAC was on the “to do” list for a long time. We were able to get the installation done along with the PG&E connection.
Review: Became the year for improving safety and security for the community. There were many smaller, yet critical, projects which were completed during the course of the year. The most visible improvement was the installation of the parking lot lights. This was a much needed addition as it improved the safety of the patrons during the evening and night hours with many cars pulling in and out of parking lot. Additionally, pavers at the mezzanine level, security cameras around the Masjid perimeter, basket ball court for the youth and completion of the basement were other notable projects that were completed.
-21 Review: Alhamdulillah, we have completed the foundation and slab work as well as the steel structure and concrete project.
We are grateful to our community who has continued their monitory support over the years. These are arduous and costly tasks which span multiple months. We ask our community to continue to pray for expeditious, smooth and safe completion of the work.  We have been collecting pictures of construction over the last few years and felt that it was important to share this journey with our community and supporters.
Progress: We are deeply grateful for the continuous generosity and support of our community towards the Masjid construction project. Currently, we are working on finishing the exterior, which includes framing, decking, stucco, doors, and windows along with the fire sprinklers.
