The mission of the Zakat Committee
The Zakat Committee (ZC) distributes Evergreen Islamic Center funds entrusted by the community for zakat and sadaqah. The ZC follows the Quran, the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him), and authentic hadith. For complex cases, the committee seeks the advice of scholars. The primary focus is to help members of the local community in the Bay Area, including Muslim refugees. Only fully completed forms are processed at the committee’s discretion; missing documents will delay the process and may prevent timely contact due to the volume of applications.
